About Powers Plumbing
Powers Plumbing has served generations of families throughout San Diego, including Point Loma, Hillcrest, La Jolla, North Park South Park, Downtown and our own neighborhood, Mission Hills. We perform plumbing, gas piping, drain clearing, sewer line camera inspections and repairs, water and heating services. Because our clients' properties range from homes built in the late 1800's to new renovations, we have experience with a great variety of plumbing and old style heating systems.
Our mission is to provide quality plumbing for the health and safety of our community.
Back in 1914, Luther Powers started this plumbing business in downtown San Diego. In 1923, we opened our 1705 W. Lewis location in Mission Hills, where we are still headquartered today. Luther Powers left the shop to his son Calvin Powers and from there the employees of the shop carried on this legacy. In 1969, we incorporated as L B Powers & Son Plumbing Co. Inc. We've been known as Mission Hills Plumbing and now refer to ourselves as Powers Plumbing.
We look forward to many more years of serving San Diego and upholding the legacy established by our founder, Luther Powers. A business profile of our owner was in the Uptown News.
Why Choose Powers Plumbing?
We've been in business for so long because we are focused on doing what's best for you. We aim to earn your respect and trust through our quality, craftsmanship, and customer service.
Instinctively, our plumbers try to find ways to help you save water. Because the water rates in San Diego are on the rise, this is more important than ever. Whenever we are out on a service call, we'll check your water pressure and provide recommendations for optimal service from your system. We don't want to see you wasting precious water, or your hard-earned money.
Another way we look out for you is by avoiding the replacement mindset. Our plumbers strive to give you the longest life from your existing fixtures whenever possible. Since so many quality fixtures can be repaired you don't have to throw perfectly good parts in the landfill. It is the long range view that we have for plumbing parts and our relationshios that keep our clients coming back.
We aim to provide you with parts and service that will last you for years. We source quality parts and fixtures that are made to last. We know that big box stores have parts that sometimes cost less and there are reasons why. We have standards of quality and take the time to inspect parts we buy before we install them for you. We still by American made copper pipe, brass and copper fittings which we believe are of superior quality.
If you want to see the difference, bring in parts you purchased from the big box store to compare them with what we offer before you install it. Just feeling the weight of the copper fittings in your hand helps you understand the quality difference.
Powers Plumbing enlisted local historian Allen Hazard to compile a series of self-guided walking tours in historic Mission Hills, which we call Power Walks. The funds generated from these Power Walks are used to improve the community. Learn more about Power Walks.
