Since 1914, we have been providing quality plumbing service and repair to San Diego residents from our shop (located in a historically designated building) in a small commercial section of Mission Hills. 

Our mission is to provide quality plumbing for the health and safety of our community.

We are fortunate to have maintained long standing relationships with our clients.  We have some clients and families that we have known for generations. We don't ever take this for granted and continually strive to be the best plumber in San Diego.

In 1914, Luther Powers started this plumbing contractor business in Downtown San Diego and he made his way to Mission Hills with the plumbing store located in the current ballet studio on West Lewis. In 1923, we opened at our current shop location and shared space with a local realtor for some time in the 1940s.

In 1969, we  incorporated as  L B Powers & Son.  The employees of the shop have carried on the legacy started by Luther Powers who left it to his son Calvin Powers.   In 2010, Phillip Stull  semi-retired and has transferred the legacy to Janet O'Dea who has been named as the President of the Company. Phil has stepped down but still has a guiding hand in the training of the younger plumbers so the tradition of passing the baton to our employees continues.

Powers Plumbing has served multiple generations of families as our clients throughout San Diego, including our own neighborhood of Mission Hills but also focused on clients in Point Loma, Hillcrest, La Jolla, North Park and South Park.  Today we have clients all over San Diego. We perform plumbing, gas piping, drain clearing, sewer leak camera work, water services and heating service and repair on historic homes, newer buildings and work on remodels and restorations.  We are specialists and have experience fixing a great variety of plumbing systems simply because our clients properties range from homes built in the late 1800's to new renovations and everything in between.  This gives us a unique experience that we apply when we work with you to serve your plumbing or heating needs. (We work on old style gravity heaters too!)

Also, instead of a replacement mindset, our plumbers strive to give you the longest service life from your fixtures.  This saves you money and provides for longevity of your fixtures in the long run which also reduces waste in the landfill.

Today, we focus on helping our clients save water since water rate hikes are inevitable due to our regions water shortages. We do this by checking your water pressure during our service call and providing recommendations so you achieve the optimal service from your system.  Because we don't want to see you wasting water and throwing this precious water (and your hard earned money) down the drain. 

Janet has passed the Green Plumber Certification and we post tips and hints on our Facebook page on a regular basis. It brings us immense joy and tremendous satisfaction when we receive gratitude and kind words from our clients and this happens to us on a regular basis. We appreciate your referrals to your friends and family too --it is the lifeblood of our business even in this information age.
